RECON OPTICAL - Our Mission

Whether using advanced techniques to manufacture components and systems for a sophisticated reconnaissance camera; applying cell-based, lean-manufacturing methods to deliver large quantities of CROWS to troops overseas; or employing specialized processes for their optical elements and coatings, Recon's mission remains the same:

to build and ship all products to specification, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality levels - all while maintaining a safe working environment.

Production Overview

Our production teams are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, tools and procedures. These are used to implement and validate production processes, including fabrication and assembly of all components/subassemblies in accordance with the most rigorous technical specifications. This approach ensures delivery of fully functioning products that meet our customer requirements.

Members of our production teams have extensive manufacturing experience at both Recon and other companies. We blend seasoned and newer employees (about a 2:1 ration), ensuring a good mix of people with experience, continuity and fresh ideas. Their roles and responsibilities include:

• Planning, scheduling, administration and program management
• Procurement, shipping/receiving, stocking and inventory
• Production engineering
• Fabrication, assembly and manufacturing
• Teaming with QA for inspection and testing throughout the process

Advanced Manufacturing Facilities and Processes

Our production team builds and delivers our products to specification, on schedule and within budget, always striving to exceed our customers’ expectations. Due to our experience with sophisticated reconnaissance systems, developed for a wide variety of applications and delivered internationally, Recon Optical has produced the majority of the world's aerial reconnaissance systems in use today.

We continue to maintain our focus on continuous improvement to ensure that the necessary people, materials, equipment and processes are in place to meet ongoing challenges in the ISR and stabilization areas.

In addition, Recon Optical has the unique equipment and expertise required to produce circuit card assemblies (CCA) and cables to the most rigorous specifications and tolerances. Optical Facilities and Processes

Recon provides complete optical manufacturing expertise using our modern facilities and processes.

Our optical production team, including production engineers and opticians, is experienced in dealing with a wide variety of optical materials, such as optical glasses, zinc sulfide, Cleartran®, zinc selenide, Tuftran®, germanium, silicon and AMTIR. We have also developed the capability to work large sections of sapphire to excellent transmitted wavefront and very small residual wedge.
